Victor Velasco is Venezuelan writer and director based in Los Angeles. He’s passionate to tell raw dramas with fantastic elements, whether it is sci-fi, horror or any world-building story with strong visuals. His newest short film SPOON played in competition at more than 30 festivals including the Oscar-Qualifying Festival of SITGES, Interfilm Berlin and USA Film Festival where it got the Honorific Award. His cyberpunk short film SHINOBI has been accepted at multiple festivals including the Oscar-Qualifying Cleveland Film Festival and featured in Director’s Notes and CG Society. It stars Maximiliano Hernandez (The Walking Dead, Sicario, Captain America: Winter Soldier).

Currently
Victor’s new short SPOON is finishing its festival circuit and it’s being prepared for distribution with its rights being sold to French territories to Canal Plus. He’s developing his first feature film while preparing treatments and screenplays for 2 other projects.

Life and Education
Born in Caracas, Venezuela. From early on, he was passionate about films, painting, music and interactive media. Victor got a degree in Film Studies in “The School of Film and TV of Venezuela” and a System Engineer degree in the “Metropolitan University”. At that time he created his first short films. Those films got different awards, including the 2nd Price in the “Best Doritos Commercial” of Venezuela in 2007.

After directing a TV series and developing videogames, Victor moved to Los Angeles and got a Master in Fine Arts degree in Filmmaking in the “New York Film Academy”. He continued directing, editing, doing VFX and creating posters for films. He was also the creative director and writer of the videogame “KLAUS” for PS4, PS5, Steam and Nintendo Switch. KLAUS has a score of 76 in Metacritic and it’s praised by its immersive story and elegant graphics.

Victor directed and edited the commercials for “KLAUS” who have all together more than 100.000 views. He also directed the narrative short films “Monday”, “The Other Side” and “Gina” and the music video “The Real” for the band “Syreim”.

Victor also works as Motion Graphic Designer and VFX artist for different companies like Disney, Netflix, Universal Music, Def Jam Records and Nike.
